The Second South Jeolla Academy and Residence Complex to be
Open in 2017
The second South Jeolla Academy and Residence Complex, which
is a kind of dormitory provided for those who graduated from high schools in
Gwangju and the Jeollanamdo region, is expected to be opened in the second half
of 2017.
Gwangju and Jeollanamdo have announced that they will push
forward a new project for constructing the second South Jeolla Academy and Residence
Complex building by 2017 and recently requested to the Gwangju Development
Institute and the South Jeolla Development Institute that research be conducted
on the project feasibility.
The total cost for the construction of the second Academy
and Residence Complex is estimated to be around 48 billion won and the new
complex is expected to accommodate up to 500 students with 250 vacancies.
When detailed matters on the project are decided, Gwangju
and Jeollanamdo will begin the construction in the first half of 2016.
Meanwhile, the first South Jeolla Academy and Residence
Complex is in Daebang-dong District in Seoul and some 850 students are
currently residing there. The residence complex has been gaining popularity
with students as well as parents as the dormitory cost is relatively cheaper
than other dormitory facilities in the city.
