Government Ends Search Operation for Bodies from the Sewol Ferry
The government officially ended the search operation for those passengers still missing from the ferry Sewol that capsized and sank on April 16th.
A total of 295 people, mostly high school students that were on a field trip, have been confirmed dead in the accident, while 9 passengers, comprised of 4 students, 2 teachers and 3 others are still missing.
The Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, Lee Ju-yeong, announced that since the search has continued over a long period, the chance of discovering missing persons has become slim, while rescuers have voiced safety concerns.
The minister also apologized to the families of those still missing.
