Discussion to Eliminate Discrimination against Immigrants Held

Gwangju Metropolitan Council hosted a policy discussion seeking to deepen understanding on immigrants.

A policy discussion was held today under the theme of "Finding Alternatives to Improve Multicultural Sensitivity". The aim was how to help eliminate prejudice and discrimination, which are still prevalent in our society against immigrants especially toward married migrant women and migrant workers.
The Gwangju Metropolitan City Council Environment and Welfare Committee led by City Councilor Park Mi Jeong announced on September 16th that this policy discussion was held in hopes of improving the living environment for immigrants with different cultural backgrounds.
To eradicate prejudice and discrimination committed against immigrants, especially married migrant women and migrant workers, the discussion included experts from related fields who debated specific and detailed policies that can actually improve the 
Multicultural Sensitivity of citizens.
The discussion was held at Gwangju City Council at 2pm, September 17th, presided over by Lim Yee Yeop, the Director of Multicultural Community Policy of the Ruling Democratic Party.
At the discussion, City Councilor Park Mi Jeong delivered the key note speech, and various experts from related fields including Gwangju City Welfare & Health Department Director Kim Il Yoong, Gwangju Education
s Office Policy Director Lee Jae Nam and more were present.
