The May 18th Memorial
Foundation posted an announcement to collect candidates for awards in the field
of Human Rights until the 30th of this month.
The award will
be given to local and international celebrities who contributed in the May 18th Democratic
Movement’s development as well as promotion of peace. It is known to be a
combination of ‘The Citizen of May’ and ‘Yoon Sang Won Prize’ award. Recipients of the award will receive 50,000 dollars in prize
money and a plaque.
The foundation
will filter the candidates and revise their qualifications by March next year
and will announce the winner in April to hold the ceremony on May 18th.
This year, the
prize was rewarded to Joanna K. Carono, a Philippine Civil Activist.
Neither
self-recommendation nor voting for candidates who belong in same group are
allowed.
Entries can be
submitted by e-mail to ‘gwangjuprize@gmail.com’ or physically mailed to their office. Detailed information can be
