Revision bill forbidding ‘Tada’ business passed at parliamentary committee.

타다 금지법국회 국토교통위 전체회의 통과

Revision bill forbidding Tada business passed at parliamentary committee.

The South Korean ride-hailing service operator, Tada, will no longer be legal in the nation as a revision bill of the Passenger Transport Service Act was passed by the National Assemblys Land Infrastructure and Transport Committee on Friday.

According to the amendment, outsourced drivers will only be allowed for the tour purposed rental vehicles which have a number of seats between 11 to 15. The cars must be rented for more than six hours and can only be rented or returned near airports or harbors.

If the bill passes at the plenary session of the National Assembly and is signed into law, it will be applied after a one-year period followed by the promulgation.

Additionally, Tada will be removed from the current app-based business.

The company launched a ride-hailing service in October 2018 using 11-seat rental minivans and outsourced drivers. However, conflicts began as taxi drivers called on the service to cease its operation.
