심각해진 코로나19…광주시, 자치구마다 병상·인력 확보

Gwangju is securing hospital beds and medical staff in each autonomous district.

Gwangju city decided to secure medical capability available in each municipality to prevent the spread of Covid19. Our Jongmin Kim reports

The city held a meeting with related institutions today to discuss the measures to secure hospital beds and medical personnel in all five districts for treatment and quarantine for Covid-19. The meeting was focused on preventative measures for the immediate response system in case of the closure of multiple medical facilities in the region.

The City decided to utilize all available public and private medical resources including Jeonnam National University Hospital and Chosun University hospital, which are nationally designated inpatient treatment institutions. Also, if there are contactors who cannot secure a location to self-quarantine, the City will designate a quarantine facility as the city previously did when the nation’s 16th and 18th patients were confirmed in the 21st Century Hospital. At the time, the City designated the Gwangju Firefighting Academy as a quarantine facility.

Also the City government plans to compensate the private medical institutions that actively participate in the diagnosis and treatment of suspected Covid-19 patients for their financial losses to encourage active cooperation. Furthermore, health authorities are installing an epidemic management support team who will carry out epidemiological surveys, technical supports for patient and contactor management, and preventive promotional activities.
