Gwangju to Establish Exclusive Organization for School Trips
Previously halted in operation in the midst of the aftermath of the tragic ferry sinking accident where more than 200 high school students that were on their school trips to Jeju perished, school trips for primary, middle and high schools will be resumed this month.
Gwangju Office of Education has announced it will establish an exclusive organization that manages and operates school trips for each school and school trips will be composed of small groups and take thematic trips based on students’ career path experiences and educational outside classes.
The largest group trip each school can allow will be limited to 3 classes or 100 students at one time.
The ‘Safe and Educational School Trip Manual’ and ‘Improved Systems for School Trips’ have been prepared and released yesterday by the Ministry of Education and the Educational Office in Gwangju.
In consideration of safety and cost, schools in Gwangju will take school trips to regional tourist destinations or short-distance spots, including Naju in Jeollanamdo and Buyeo from South Chungcheong province.
