The Jeonnam region's
Apr. 7th by-election resulted in victories for the Democratic Party candidates.
This is as the
Democratic Party members candidates for the Suncheon(순천),
Goheung(고흥), and Boseong(보성)
regions won against independent candidates.
This is in contrast
with the People Power Party's absolute victories in the Seoul(서울)
and Busan(부산) Cities Mayor elections.
However, the
Democratic Party candidate defeated the independent candidate by only 5
votes in Boseong(보성).
These wins are
regarded to have been due to the Jeonnam region being the main support base of
the Democratic Party.
In the meantime, the
average voting rate of Jeonnam region's Council members' was recorded at 37.8%
and local members with 61.4%.
