impacts Gwangju Jeonnam regions' multicultural marriages, dropping last year
The
Gwangju and Jeonnam regions' Multicultural Marriages dropped in number last
year due to the COVID19 pandemic.
There
was a decrease of some 40% compared to the year before, with the difficulty in
overseas travel due to the ongoing pandemic considered to be the biggest
reason.
According
to the Multicultural Status and Analysis Reports by the Honam(호남)
Regional Statistics Office on the 20th, there were 355 multicultural marriages
in 2020 in Gwangju City.
Compared
to the previous year's 577 marriages in 2019, this is 222 less or a 38.5%
decrease.
As
for the Jeonnam region, there were 519 multicultural marriages in 2020, which
is 367 or 41.4% less than 2019's 886 marriages.
