Asian Culture Complex Effect’ to Revitalize Gwangju

Prior to the official opening of the national Asian Culture Complex, an ‘Asian Culture Complex Effect’ is reportedly revitalizing the urban area in Gwangju with a series of constructions of cultural and artistic infrastructures.

The number of visitors to the Asian Culture Complex continues to increase drastically, making the total number of visitors to the complex over 10,000.

Overseas art experts and prominent artistic figures from the U.S. and France, as well as Germany and Hong Kong, such as the representative of the Smithsonian Museum’s Freer and Sackler Galleries, Jullian Raby, and the French Ambassador to Korea, Jerome Pasquier have paid visits to the Complex.

Cultural and artistic agencies that prepare and provide various artistic programs for different cultural festivals and exhibitions continue to emerge along with small-scale artistic spaces dedicated to hosting different cultural events in neighboring areas.

Construction of the Asian Culture Complex began in 2005 and, when it opens its doors to the public on September 4th, it will be Korea’s largest cultural facility.
