Yeongwang to Attract Foreign Tourists to the Region
Yeongwang-gun district recently hosted a regional tourist attraction travel guide program targeting travel agents from Russia in order to introduce major tour spots in the Yeongwang-gun district.
Since the visa-free trip between Korea and Russia was launched last year, the number of Russian tourists to Korea continues to grow, but Jeollanamdo’s cultural exchange with Russia and the number of Russian travelers to Jeollanamdo has seen little increase.
As part of effort to gain headway in the overseas travel market in Russia, Yeongwang-gun has introduced major tourist attractions, including the birthplace of the Baekje Buddhism in Yeongwang and the Baeksu Coastal Road, to travel agents from Russia.
Russian travel agency associates were introduced to the Yeongwang-grown dried yellow corvina and its dinner course along with scenic viewing spots across the Yeongwang-gun district. It said the respective tourist courses are competitive for international tourists, including Russian travelers.
