Jeollanamdo Cleans Out Coastal Areas in the Province for ‘Desirable Tourist Islands in Jeollanamdo’ Project
Jeollanamdo carried out a ‘Desirable Tourist Islands in Jeollanamdo Project’ in the month of April and reportedly cleaned the coast of 94 tons of trash.
The annual average amount of trash generated in oceanic regions in Korea is tallied at 160,000 tons with the total amount of trash in Jeollanamdo located ocean areas marking 24 percent of the entire maritime 38,000 tons of trash in Korea.
Public officials and volunteers took part in ‘Cleaning Out Costal Regions’ in Jeollanamdo throughout April and islands that were cleaned include Gwanmadedo Island in Jindo, Soahndo Island in Wando and Gangjin’s Gawoodo Island.
