Rep. Cheon Jeong-bae Says He will Not Use former President Kim Dae-jung in Political Conflicts

Rep. Cheon Jung-bae, who ran as a liberal independent candidate in Gwangju Seo-gu B district in April 29th by-elections after defecting from the main opposition New Politics Alliance for Democracy party, said he has never used his relationship with the late former president Kim Dae-jung to advance himself politically nor will he in the future.

Cheon visited the graveyard of former president Kim at the National Seoul Cemetery yesterday and his comments followed his visit to Ms. Lee Hui-ho, the widow of the former president who remarked that her husband should not be used in political battles between liberal politicians.

Former president Kim Dae-jung suggested that Cheon, who was a lawyer in 1996, join the liberal party, after which Cheon became a lawmaker representing Ahnsan Danwon district for four terms.
