NPAD Spokesman Urge National Government to Pay More Attention to May 18th
Deputy spokesman from the main opposition New Politics Alliance for Democracy, Kim Jeong-hyun, released a public statement urging the national government to pay more attention to May 18th and its ceremonies.
In regard to the recent decision of the president to not attend the ceremonies on May 18th and her refusal to meet with representatives to discuss the May 18th symbolic song, ‘March for the Beloved’ and its designation as an official ceremonial song, Kim said the government is being irresponsible.
Kim also stated that the national government and President Park Geun-hye should approach the matter more sincerity as the upcoming May 18th commemorative ceremonies may be held without the president nor prime minister in attendance.
If their current indifference toward the ceremonies continues, Kim expressed concerns that this neglect by the President and the national government regarding the May 18th Democratization Movement will be viewed negatively by citizens.
