Gwangju Emergency Rescue Team to be Dispatched to Nepal For Earthquake Relief
As Nepal continues to suffer from the country’s worst earthquake that killed more than 1,000 people, an emergency rescue team comprised of local firefighting officials, doctors, and pharmacists left Gwangju for Nepal yesterday.
Gwangju is the first time non-capital government to dispatch rescue and medical officials to the earthquake-torn country.
Led by the assistant fire chief in Gwangju, Kim Hui-cheol, the Gwangju Emergency Rescue and Medical Team will be comprised of emergency rescue officials, doctors and pharmacists specializing in disasters and medical treatments.
From today through the 15th, the special emergency rescue team will be in the capital city of Nepal in Katmandu, which suffered the greatest damage from the earthquake.
