Gwangju to Provide Childcare Supplements for May
The city of Gwangju will offer emergency financial supplemental aid worth 6 billion for childcare in the city following similar aid provided in the months of March and April.
The decision comes as Gwangju Mayor Yoon Jang-hyeon and his municipal government sought to provide a stable and safe educational environment for local children.
Gwangju Office of Education previously had to allocate child care aid of 12 billion to cover two months of funding and faced similar difficulties in securing and providing child care aid on time for March, April and May.
The recent and ongoing financial struggles amongst nationwide educational institutions comes as the national government is requiring 17 provincial and city educational offices to make up a 200 billion won shortfall for childcare fees this year.
