2 Patients Suspected of MERS Gwangju and Jeollanamdo
Two patients suspected of having MERS, or Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, were reported in Gwangju and Jeollanamdo.
One of the two suspected patients reported herself to the health authorities in North Jeolla province and was isolated by medical personnel as she was traveling on buses at the U-square bus terminal in Gwangju.
The second suspected patient showed flu-like symptoms, which were similar to signs of the MERS, after she came in direct contact with a MERS patient in Seoul three weeks ago.
As of today, a total of 18 patients were confirmed to be infected by MERS and the city of Gwangju and Jeollanamdo have formed a 'MERS Management and Responsive Headquarters'.
Organizers for the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade also released a plan to raise their guard against the spread of MERS.
