Police Patrollers for the Universiade Launched
A customized police force in charge of the security and stable operation of the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade was launched over the weekend at the Universiade Gymnasium in Gwangju Women's University.
At the inaugural ceremony for the police security group, comprised of police officers in Gwangju, some 1,900 participants, such as Gwangju Mayor Yoon Jang-hyeon, the South and North Jeolla governors, police chiefs from the three municipal regions and policemen were in attendance.
The customized safety and security group will be in charge of protecting foreign athletes, the safety of facilities and traffic control at major sporting facilities in the athletes' village, the media center, the stadiums, hotels and subway stations.
