Local Artists Put Artworks up for Seoul Auction
Artwork of famous local artists will be sold at an auction today, which is
organized by the Seoul Auction Company.
Some 10 landscape paintings and still-life paintings by a famous local
artist named Oh Ji-ho will be sold at today’s auction and most of artwork is
from the 1960s and 1970s and features intense coloring based on expressionism.
Gwangju based artist, Oh Ji-ho, is one of important artists in the field
of modern and contemporary art. He had been using some impressionism techniques
in Korean style.
In addition, some still-life paintings, mainly featuring women and
flowers, by Gwangju based artist Im Jik-soon will be sold at the auction.
Seoul Auction, which was founded in 1998, is Korea’s first art auction
house. In terms of auction records and market share, it leads the Korean art
market. A total of 113 artworks, representing modern and contemporary art in Korea,
will be at today’s auction, which will take place from 5pm at the Seoul Auction
Space in Pyeongchang-dong.
