Taxi Fare and Price of Rice in Gwangju Lowest in Nation
Five categories of public utility prices as well as the food and service index including taxi fares and cost of rice are the lowest in Gwangju as compared to figures tallied in municipalities nationwide.
According to the 'Regional Price Index Information' released by the Ministry of Security and Administration, Gwangju marked the lowest price index in a total of 5 categories including taxi fare, city gas for households, pork belly or Samgyeopsal, accommodation, and rice.
Average taxi price in Gwangju was tallied at 2,800 won, 600 won lower than Korea's highest taxi fare of 3,400 won in South Gyeongsang region.
Price of the city gas for households indicated 10,900 won, a figure that is almost half compared to the most expensive region in Jeju at 21,000 won.
200 grams of Samgyeopsal or pork belly in Gwangju was being sold at 10,200 won and accommodation fee per night was 34,000 won, while 20 kilograms of rice sold for 46,700 won, all the lowest figures in the nation.
