Rep. Lee Jeong-hyun Appointed as the First Commissioner of the Ruling Saenuri Party
The ruling Saenuri Party appointed Rep. Lee Jeong-hyun from the Suncheon -Gokseong district as the first commissioner of the party yesterday.
Saenuri chairperson, Rep. Kim Mu-seong, announced the party decided to nominate Rep. Lee, who was recently elected as a lawmaker representing Suncheon and Gokseong constituency.
This was the first time a conservative candidate has been elected in Jeollanamdo, which is a stronghold of the progressive parties.
At the press conference, Rep. Lee Jeong-hyun explained he will do his best in securing funds and passing administrative measures necessary for developing the Suncheon and Gokseong area. He intends to spend Monday to Thursday in Seoul to serve as the first commissioner and the rest of the week in his constituency.
Having served as the first presidential secretary for public affairs, Rep. Lee Jeong-hyun is known as a close ally of President Park Geun-hye, but also made himself appealing to the voters in Suncheon – Gokseong area through his efforts in the financial budget committee to secure funds for Honam.
