Suncheon Becomes a Sister City with Ecological City of Curitiba in Brazil
Mayor of the city of Suncheon, Jo Chung-hoon, and his counterpart in the Brazilian ecological city of Curitiba, Mayor Gustavo Fruet, signed a Memorandum of Understanding pledging mutual cooperation in exchanges for the development of ecology, culture and education in the two cities.
Suncheon mayor Cho is currently visiting the city of Curitiba to promote Suncheon as a hub city of ecology and nature and to seek greater support and exchange with the city.
The city of Curitiba is a world-class eco-friendly city, known for its effective municipal policies in environment, transportation and land use as well as the eco-friendly operation of the city.
Mayor Jo will also meet with the former mayor of Curitiba, Jaime Lerner, who greatly contributed in developing Curitiba as a world-renowned ecological city in order to share his opinion on the establishment of an ecologically innovative city in Suncheon and the sustainable growth of the city.
