Gwangju and Jeollanamdo Development Institute to be Merged

The Gwangju and Jeollanamdo Development Research Institutes will be integrated into one organization again as early as this year.

A separation process was conducted in 2007 for more effective operation of the research institutes that study and promote development strategies for Gwangju and Jeollanamdo.

The newly united development research institute is expected to be located in the Gwangju and Jeollanamdo Joint Innovation City in Bitgaram of Naju.

Gwangju mayor, Yoon Jang-hyeon, and governor of Jeollanamdo, Lee Nak-yeon, agreed on creating a Task Force team that will work on reintegrating the divided institutions sometime next month.

Upon the integration, the size of the two institutions is likely to grow as part of an effort to offer more effective service in promoting development strategies for Gwangju and Jeollanamdo.
