Poultry entrance ban for 6 cities and counties in Jeonnam
Jeollanamdo has enacted a ban on chicks and ducklings entering some parts of the province that will be in effect until the end of this month due to the spread of Avian Influenza.
The province ordered not to bring in outside chicks and ducklings within a 500m radius of AI detected farms.
Jeollanamdo told its 6 cities and counties: Naju, Yeongam, Muan, Jangheung, Gangjin and Haenam to do weekly inspections for bringing in chicks and ducklings within the parameter and to run tests for possible infection so as to be authorized for their entrance.
Among the listed cities and counties, Yeongam was selected to follow the province-issued order to take precautions as the county raises a large number of ducks and other 5 regions have confirmed cases of an AI infection.
Even though the migration of wild birds is almost over, the province has decided to halt the movement of poultry just to be safe.
Jeollanamdo is planning to strengthen management on 41 farms with over 1.5 million poultry brought in after the standstill order was lifted on the 17th.
Since November last year, there have been 33 confirmed cases of AI infection in Jeollanamdo.
