Gwangju Appoints Former Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik as Chair of the 2015 GJ Summer Universiade Organizing Committee
The city of Gwangju has reportedly nominated former Prime Minister, Kim Hwang-sik, as co-chairmen of the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade Organizing Committee, along with the mayor of Gwangju, Yoon Jang-hyun.
According to the city of Gwangju, former joint chairperson of the organizing committee, Jeong Eui-hwa, has been appointed as the chairman of the National Assembly, banning him from serving as a joint head of the organizing committee. Consequently, organizers had to nominate a successor.
The former co-chairman of the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade Organizing Committee, Jeong Eui-hwa, will serve as an honorary chair of the Universiade Organizing Committee.
The newly appointed co-chairmen of the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade, Kim Hwang-sik served as the president of the Board of Audit and Inspection and prime minister during the Lee Myeong-bak administration, respectively.
