Moon calls for measures to improve public safety

President Moon Jae In on Monday called for effective measures to improve public safety as the country marked the fourth anniversary of the deadly sinking of the Sewol ferry that left 299 passengers dead and 5 missing.

President Moon made the call during a meeting with his top secretaries, citing a recent survey that found that a majority of citizens believe the country's disaster response system is not much different from what it used to be when the ferry sank in 2014.

President Moon then instructed his aides to craft measures to enhance public safety that can gain public support and recognition based on the outcome of the recent two-month state inspection of public facilities across the country.
