The Hidden History of Korea (July)
Coffee has been a strong element in Korean culture.
According to the book, “Chosun, the land of morning calm” written by Percival Lowell, who described the experience by saying “We mounted again to the House of the Sleeping Waves to sip that latest nouveatue in Korea, after dinner-coffee in 1884.”
This is coming 12 years earlier than Emperor Gojong becoming the first Korean king to try coffee over recorded.
Just over 130years since the introduction of coffee to Korean society, coffee drinking has become an important part of life in Korea.
